How many days until Christmas and top Christmas movies for you

Christmas is coming!!! It is exciting to know how many days until Christmas. While waiting for the holiday to come, here is the list of top movies you can watch on this occasion.

#1: It’s a wonderful life (1946)

It’s a wonderful life deserves to take the top spot in this list. This fantasy drama is the first one among many Christmas movies that have ever made. This is also one of the bonafide classics of Hollywood’s Golden Age. It’s a wonderful life also makes James Stewart become more famous thanks to his greatest role. In the movie, George Bailey (James Stewart) who is the most decent person of America wants to commit suicide on Christmas Eve, but he doesn’t succeed. He is then saved by angel Clarence Odbody. She shows him how meaningful his life is to the people around him and how their lives would be without his appearance. This movie is the  feel good story of family and redemption that you must watch on Christmas.

It’s a wonderful life is the first Christmas movie ever

#2: A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

A Charlie Brown Christmas is also one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made. This is the first television special based on the legendary comic strip of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. In the movie, our titular hero finds himself feeling the holiday blues. He keeps questioning the true meaning of Christmas which he thinks to be everyone’s favourite day of the year. Then Charlie plans to direct his own Nativity play, with a little help from the Peanuts gang. The truth is A Charlie Brown Christmas is the longest-running animated TV special in history as it has been shown by ABC every year since its original broadcast in 1965.

#3: A Christmas Story (1983)

A Christmas Story is corny as it is set in the 1950s, but it captures the spirit of being a kid during Christmas better than any other film. This movie is about a quest to land a stuff of childhood fantasy of nine-year-old Ralphie. It is called “Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle”. The movie can bring a warm and fuzzy feeling to anyone who grew up with a yuletide soft spot. If you love old movies, you will enjoy watching it. It will make you feel like the holiday has come although you are counting how many days until Christmas.

#4. A Christmas Carol (2009)

The first A Christmas Carol movie was released in 1951 in the United Kingdom under the title Scrooge. It is one of the most cherished Christmas movies ever made by director Brian Desmond Hurst. This one (the 2009 movie) takes on the classic Charles Dickens serial, made by director Robert Zemeckis. This movie is successful thanks to the magic of motion-capture technology. In the movie, Jim Carrey plays Ebenezer Scrooge and the three Ghosts of Christmas. The twist turns the movie into a more psychedelic ride through time. However, the psychology doesn't undercut the grandeur. It actually helps make one of the best blockbusters of all time.

This is one of the best Christmas movies

#5: Die Hard (1988)

Some people think this action movie shouldn’t be on a list of Christmas movies, but you should seriously consider it. Why? The movie is about an office Christmas party hijacked by some very naughty Euro-trash terrorists. Then there comes machine gun clatter from the rooftop, then Bruce Willis comes to dish out carnage and splatter. He makes a list, then checks off each one, and afterwards proceeds to hand out Christmas presents. By doing that, he ruins the terrorist’s fun. If you still don’t think this is a Christmas movie, you can enjoy it as an all-time great action-thriller.

#6: Home alone (1990)

This is the most funny Christmas movies in my opinion, especially in the 90s. Home alone of John Hughes remains a classic for several reasons. First of all, Macaulay Culkin is very charming and cute. Secondly, Home Alone features plenty of hilarious performances by Canadian SCTV-alums, John Candy and Catherine O’Hara. Also, John Hughes stuffs the movie with lots of eccentric details, from the Buzz's tarantula, Harry's gold tooth, that greasy pizza dinner, the rip-roaring fake gangster movie Angels with Filthy Souls (which is the most entertaining movie), and the shovel guy. Also, every trap in the grand finale's tricked-out madhouse is fun too.

#7: The Nightmare before Christmas (1993)

This movie is a combination of a Halloween movie and a Christmas movie

This macabre, stop-motion cartoon is considered to be both a Halloween movie and a Christmas movie. The movie features a ghoulish nightmare of Jack Skellington stuck in perpetual trick-or-treat mode, convinces him that there's a "right" way to live. This Christmas movie is turned into a spook-fest featuring a werewolf, vampires and a singing skeleton. He finds a way to transplant the beating heart of Christmas into the chest cavity of his ghoulish existence thanks to the help of his Frankensteined girlfriend Sally, Halloween Town's Pumpkin King, his spectral dog Zero, and Santa Claus himself. The Nightmare Before Christmas has a brilliantly animated, charmingly written holiday musical with a spooky twist. However, you might not want to watch it with your kids.

#8: Elf (2003)

This is the story of a human baby raised in Santa's workshop which is a magical world, Elf plays up Ferrell’s man-child side with delightful aplomb. Watching Elf, you will see full of sugary-sweet holiday cheer, and a showcase for Ferrell’s hilarious comedic chops. Before the movie, Will Ferrell was one of the biggest comedy stars, Elf turned him into a candy-gobbling, box office-conquering phenomenon. Elf is about an adult man whose name is Ferrell's Buddy. He grew up thinking he's an elf, then he travels to New York to find his biological father. By tapping the child-like sense of mischief present, Jon Favreau makes a Christmas movie that is so sweet but doesn't give you a post-sugar-rush headache. It's the perfect combination of being funny, thoughtful, small, and not a pair of socks.

Christmas is not just about presents, great food, family time, it is also about movies. So while you countdown how many days until Christmas and prepare for it, you can watch your favourite Christmas movies which can bring you the holiday spirit.
